Yup, you don't even need to open the Switch or the Joy-Con. Just need to find something conductive.

If I buy a Switch now, what firmware will be there most likely?

Does the news about bootloader etc mean we can also put custom firmware even on newest firmware? Or hasnt that still changed?

You will be able to use Fusée Gelée to run CFW on all system versions.

Thx, and that CFW is expected in june right? And second question: Will I have to do hardmod or will softmod be enough for that CFW ?

June was the original target for CFW, so that's certainly possible. With the early release of Fusée Gelée, it could be earlier.

That depends on the system version of your Switch. Software methods of loading CFW will likely be released for 1.0.0-3.0.0 in the not-too-distant future. Software methods of loading CFW on 3.0.1-4.1.0 will likely be released in the distant future. Software methods of loading CFW on 5.0.0 or higher are not known to exist.

Regardless, hardware methods of loading Fusée Gelée are extremely easy, and many don't require any kind of permanent modification to your Switch.

Has Nintendo already started producing newer versions of switch without this bootrom vulnerability? Because I made a deal with some person but he said he recently bought it, so is there a risk that that switch maybe has the ''newer'' tegra or something?
    thx for your help!

Nintendo will likely silently release the newer Switch models that aren't vulnerable to Fusée Gelée in the near future, but my understanding is none have been discovered yet. Anyone who plans on using CFW with his or her Switch should buy one ASAP.

I bought a switch last week and it came with 3.0.2, which is pretty good. Some people are saying that Mariko(hardware fix) will come by 1 or 2 weeks. You should buy one now.

The wording "hard mod" is kind of misleading when talking about shorting 2 pins, its true that a piece of copper wire is technically hardware, but when most people hear hard mod they think custom chips soldered to the PCB. We really need a new nomenclature, like Semi-hard mod, Solderless Hard Mod, tethered jailbreak or just state that it requires the shorting of 2 pins.

Nit picky, but it wouldn't hurt if the OP was a little clearer, it's after all, aimed at people who are new to the scene.

    That's easy hardmod
If you are on 5.0.x don't cry you still have chance to cfw.

I'm currently on firmware 4.1.0 waiting for CFW, I was wondering if it's okay to update to latest firmware?
    Will CFW still work?

Yes if you don't mind having to do a hardmod (shorting pin 10) everytime to boot into CFW or just doing the hardmod once and leaving the Switch in sleep mode 24/7.

The cool thing is that most people do this already anyway.

I've noticed. Since I use it primarily in docked mode, I don't keep it in sleep mode at all, if ever. And since it's docked for me most of the time, that usually means I've got a computer close by that'll let me load Fusee Gelee if I ever do turn it off. But I know there's not much tradeoff for keeping it in sleep mode. Sometimes I think it would be better to not turn it off considering how annoying it is to turn it off in the first place...

Sorry for this dump question, but wouldnt it possible to downgrade the FW with the tethered methode CFW on higher Firmwares or even through the rcm with Fuse Geele? (When 1.0.0 has a possible non tethered methode)
Just remembered this is the god old PSP times...
